Ebenfalls zu sehen im Botanischen Garten zu Kiel. Die Lotosblumen (Nelumbo), auch Lotos genannt, sind die einzige Gattung der Pflanzenfamilie der Lotosgewächse (Nelumbonaceae). Von den nur zwei Arten ist die eine in der Neuen Welt und die andere in Asien sowie im nördlichen Australien beheimatet. Beide Arten und ihre Hybriden werden als Zierpflanzen genutzt und liefern Nahrungsmittel.

Also on display at the Botanical Garden in Kiel (Northern Germany). The lotus flower (Nelumbo), also called lotus, are the only genus of the plant family of the lotus plants (Nelumbonaceae). Of the two types, the one in the New World and the other is based in Asia and northern Australia. Both species and their hybrids are used as ornamental plants and provide food.
