Ein Versuch, eine Bougainvillea auf dem Balkon zu halten, ging bei mir gänzlich in die Hose. Ich habe einfach keinen grünen Daumen.
Dabei finde ich diese Pflanze so wunderschön! Viele werden sie eher in pink kennen, aber auch die hält nicht lang bei mir.
Die 10 bis 18 Bougainvillea-Arten stammen ursprünglich aus Südamerika.

Die Gattung Bougainvillea wurde 1789 durch Philibert Commerson in Antoine Laurent de Jussieu: Genera Plantarum, aufgestellt. Der Name ehrt den französischen Seefahrer und Entdecker Louis Antoine de Bougainville, nach dem auch die Insel Bougainville benannt ist. Im Zuge dessen Weltumsegelung 1766/69 entdeckte allerdings wohl Commersons Begleiterin und heimliche Geliebte Jeanne Baret eine Pflanze der Gattung in Südamerika am Rand von Rio de Janeiro.

An attempt to hold a bougainvillea on the balcony went completely into my pants. I just do not have a green thumb.

The genus Bougainvillea was set up in 1789 by Philibert Commerson in Antoine Laurent de Jussieu: Genera Plantarum. The name honors the French sailor and explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville, after which the island of Bougainville is named. In the course of the circumnavigation of the world around 1766/69, however, Commerson's companion and secret lover Jeanne Baret discovered a plant of the species in South America on the edge of Rio de Janeiro.
